About Jeff
Born in Brooklyn and raised in suburban New Jersey, Jeffrye started out as a drummer in the late 60's playing block dances and upstate clubs with HS rock bands. He picked up the guitar in college where he was a music theory and voice major and performed solo and with friends. After leaving school he took a job at a resort in the Pocono Mtns. and joined the staff band there. Several horn players were recruited from U of WV so he relocated to Morgantown to front a jazz-rock band and learn the finer points of the 70's troubadour lifestyle. This is where he met and joind up with Larry Keen and Richard Pollack and toured all over the country on the NY Coffee House circuit playing original acoustic music to receptive college audiences. After a short stint in Boulder CO he moved to San Diego where he performed solo and in several good original and working cover bands like The Strangers, The East-West Band, Radio Romance, Indoor Fireworks, Roscoe and Streetheart. In the early 90's he started doing sound design, voice-over and soundtrack composition for several video game developers like Park Place and Sega Interactive and helped publish a dozen titles for Sega, Nintendo, Sony and others.
In order to generate material to create a trilogy in four parts, he eventually left SoCal and moved to central Maine for four years, where he tried on a new life for size and played as much music as he could (but did not eat lobster or see a moose). After one slick winter (and one ex-wife) too many he pulled up stakes and headed to Austin, Texas, "the live music capitol of the world." While going solo once again he got back into game development for a couple of years nut got downsized for good in the tech bust of 2002. So he got back to doing what he knows best, performing live as a soloist and as a sideman for many of the performing songwriters that call Austin their home.
Currently Jeffrye is living solo, working in a busy recording/podcasting/graphic design studio by day and working as a musician by night. He's affliated with Island Soundworks studios in St. Thomas USVI and works as a producer and mastering engineer for them as well as many other performers here in central Texas. He also produces the Austin Connection podcast series featuring many of the best songwriters central Texas has to offer.
He has also finally shaved off his beard (again).
